It’s been a little while since I last posted, so sending apologies your way! My excuse for you is that since January 4th I moved from Reading, England to Salt Lake City, Utah to study at LDS Business College. And while I have been trying to settle I have been also doing assignments and trying to figure out the public transport system – which is totally different to the UK! All in all it’s been a very interesting few weeks but fun all the same.
So back to footwear fashion – oh how I have missed you! In case you were interested I’m studying for a AAS Degree in Business with Entrepreneurial emphasis. Some of you may argue that there is no reason to take an entrepreneurial course as it is something you become and learn from rather than study. But let me tell you it has been a very unique experience here at the business college and many if not all of the lecturers are business owners themselves. In fact they own and have owned several businesses. Where am I going with this? Well I have come to the conclusion, and as much as it’s a broad statement I’m going to say it anyway, America is a place of endless possibilities and opportunities when it comes to business start-ups. From the small amount of time I have spent here there is a definite difference in the way they feel about business and being an entrepreneur which I feel different to that in the UK. There is just a lot of positive attitude towards starting your own business, which for obvious reasons I just love!
So on to my point, I’m sure many of you know Rev Run from Run DMC a.k.a. Joseph Simmons. If you don’t you must take a look…although it might be ‘tricky’ to tell them apart but he’s the one with the sideburns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-O5IHVhWj0&ob=av2e
A few years ago he started a reality TV series called Run’s House which aired on MTV:

I believe this to be one of the first celebrity reality shows and to be honest one of my favorite…now there are too many it it’s just boring. Anyway his two oldest daughters, Vanessa and Angela, decided to start their own sneaker line under the Simmons brand Run Athletics, calling it ‘Pastry’, and it has certainly gone from strength to strength over the years. Check it out here!
I personally love the concept and as much as I am not a sneaker wearing kind of girl I can’t help but fall in love the with ideas and especially the names of the styles i.e. Glam Pie Fantasy or NYC Sweet Crime – it’s just plain fun! And obviously when they launch a new range it’ll go in the ‘Freshly Baked’ section of the website. It’s charming; it’s sweet and certainly doesn’t put an ounce on your hips. It does wonders for your wallet too with prices ranging from $40 – $100 – you’re not really breaking the bank. And I think it’s worth it, if that’s your kind of thing!
Here are some of my favorites from the collections:

And my favorite FB post of the week goes to this marvelous quote from Marilyn Monroe:

Peace, love and sneakers!
